Pimp My Bag

24 April 2008 · No Comments

I bought a new big bag for my course books, lunch, etc etc, at Uni last weekend.

It’s a fabric satchel-style mens brown number from Primark, at £6. I like the more space, and the shoulder carrying but it really needs a little extra style - my style.
So please, pimp my bag! (lol)

Here’s what I’m planning:

Colour - brown isn’t exactly my thing, so I thought I’d add some baby pink touches - ribbon. This colour scheme usually looks vintage, I’m hoping it’ll work for me.

Comfort - I still get worried the shoulder strap will dig in someday, when the strap becomes less stiff. To stop that happening, I’ll be making a baby pink removable padding piece to soften the strap on my shoulder.
And, sometimes the bag digs in my hip when I have certain books/folders in there. I’ll add another similar padding piece to the correct place to stop that happening.

Practicalities - having been forced to retire my old bag (it was in a terrible state), I now only really have this big bag. Not good for the quick nip to town. What would be cool is a removable mini-bag that stores all my ‘handbag things’ inside the bag, and I can just remove it to use as a handbag. This also frees up a front pocket for an extra lunchbox.

I’ll also see about getting some motifs befitting the bag’s style to adorn it, making it all the more I-made-this-chic.

Keep reading for my progress on this massive project!
