Yoghurt Maker - frivolity or frugality?

26 March 2008 · No Comments

After being instructed by the dietician to eat more calorific dairy, today I bought myself a yoghurt maker starter kit (contains yoghurt maker, cookbook, yoghurt powder and fruit sauce).
I was attracted by the cheap price (£20), the ease of the process, but mostly because of the dietician.

But what I can’t decide is - have I bought another gimmicky gadget (I’m a gadget-lover….), or have I made a great investment that will do me well for years?

If it’s a gadget, I don’t entiredly mind.  I find gadgets fantastic - and irresistible.

I’m tending to think I might have been quite wise, though.  I adore yoghurt - but never buy it because I believe it costs too much, and is never really what you want - this yoghurt is cheap and adjustable.
Secondly, I like producing my own versions of things other people would buy from the supermarket - pizza, chicken nuggets…  So I’m quite excited to produce my own yoghurt.

The big downside will be what happens if I can’t get the powder anymore….
